JA Eastern WA / Northern ID
About JA in Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho
Junior Achievement in the Spokane area was established in 1953 under the name JA of the Inland Northwest. In 2013, they joined JA of Washington, as JA Eastern Washington / Northern Idaho (JA EWNI). Currently, 8,000 students are served annually by JA EWNI, offering traditional in-school programs in grades K-12, and JA Job Shadows. In 2016, the JA Finance Park mobile unit was added, providing one of JA's highest impact programs to over 2,000 middle-school students in Spokane. Thousands more will have the opportunity to attend JA Finance Park when it comes back to the area in March 2017.
Volunteering for JA EWNI
Each year, JA EWNI relies upon nearly 500 volunteers to bring its programs to local area school students. The dynamic interaction between the volunteer and the students provides active learning and brings theory to life.
Are you qualified to volunteer in a classroom? Yes! JA volunteers come from all walks of life, including valued employees, retirees, parents and college students. All you need is a desire to be an inspirational role model, along with the ability to communicate, motivate, and create enthusiasm. Volunteers are also required to sign a Volunteer Conduct Standards form. Training in person and/or online is provided.
